You Can't Put Your Arms Around a Memory

... but you sure can put 'em around a creepy kid, doll, or infant. Helps if you're a skeleton, too, but it's not required.

Are you sure these books aren't meant to be funny? The first and third pictures alone made me laugh my ass off!

As cheesy as these all are, I really do miss the days of horror on the store shelves. In addition to bookstores, it actually made going to a supermarket or pharmacy fun... there was always a chance to find some little gem (I bought Rex Miller's SLOB in a Rite Aide drugstore - my how times have changed.) Now there's just a whole lot of NUTHIN' out there.

aha, I knew mermaids were evil...
The creepy tree reminds me of character called Leshiy from Russian folklore.

Water Baby looks pretty cute, though, and that creepy mer-skeleto-whatever with the waving blond locks isn't too bad as spooky cover images go.

And what a fine title for a horror story, to boot: Water Baby. ......Water Baby.

I'm POSITIVE these covers weren't made to be funny! Only in retrospect...

I've got every one of those books in my (rainy-day) stash somewhere.
