Lovecraft Born Today, 1890

The man himself, born as the stars were right in 1890 in Providence, RI. Enjoy some of his vintage paperback covers - some of them as iconic as the stories contained inside - as I continue to work on a review of a stunning 1980s short story collection...

As much as I know about Lovecraft and his works (I've nearly read them all two or more times), I was unaware of his birth date. Mine is August 26th!

Those covers bring back some recollections. The Dunwich Horror was the first HPL collection I got, in LA back in 1978.

He was born on the same day as the lynching and _partial devouring_ of deposed Dutch head of state Johan de Witt (1672).
