I Used to Love Guy N. Smith's books...They were so bad and exploitative. I used to just assume it was an obvious psuedonym for someone who had given themselves license to be as rashy as possible.

He proudly writes under his own name!

You forgot Richard Laymon's 'Fiends' collection, which I've just picked up from the library.

Those are fiendishly cool covers. Well, the Richard Powers cover for the Beaumont collection, anyhow...

The cover for the Smith novel -- which also isn't too bad, I suppose -- looks very familiar...I believe it was also used for a Year's Best pb collection.

In fact, here is the Year's Best cover:

Heck, looks like you can even buy prints of it, if one was so inclined:

I have that old Beaumont ed. collection. I try to buy anytthing good with a Powers cover! The MArvin Kaye ed. looks interesting from the authors at least. I don't think I've ever run across that one or I would have bought it.
Just as a FYI: the Farris FIENDS is prob one of his best novels, IMHO. It has loads of local color and the plot is a doozy. The creatures also must have been the inspiration for those in the film The Desent me thinks. It is a truly creepy bookand one of my favorites. I also like his WILDWOOD, SON OF THE ENDLESS NIGHT & CATACOMBS.
