The story is all Bloch, absolutely - I definitely noted this in my recent review of the novel - but I still have to say Hitch & screenwriter Joseph Stefano made Bates a little more, shall we say, sympathetic. A minor change, but a large one, and a necessary one for a film adaptation.
Too Much Horror Fiction collects and reviews vintage horror literature (mostly from the 1960s to the early 1990s) and celebrates its resplendent paperback cover art. Welcome!
Looking for a forgotten horror novel or short story? Remember the paperback cover art but not the title or author? Send me an email at toomuchhorrorfiction[at]gmail.com describing it and if I don't know it, one of my readers might!

Hitchcock gets so much credit for the STORY in the movie Psycho when in fact, he deviated very little from Robert Bloch's suspense thriller.
Hitchcock deserves credit for some exceptional cinematography and directing. But the story is all Bloch.
