Another author too soon gone.
I still think the Blackwater series was great. It started the idea of the serialized horror novel in the current age. Afterwards, John Saul's "Blackstone", followed by Stephen King's "Green Mile".
I'm reading Blackwater right now and, man, this was a lovely reminder of what animates the man behind the words, especially the bit about always killing the characters he loves most.
