I guess that’s what they mean by ‘an immersive experience’? I’d actually rank it as King’s best work and King doing what he does best (ie, scaring the pants off you).Aonghus Fallonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11414643238115071988noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-825351661748594023.post-16601983935886449892023-03-03T05:53:19.986-08:002023-03-03T05:53:19.986-08:00Ha, that's fun that you're from Millville,...Ha, that's fun that you're from Millville, Will!
Thomas Tessier's 'the Fates' takes place in Millville, but I'm sure you noticed that! Has anyone else noticed that a character from Peter Straub's 'Ghost Story' makes a guest appearance in IT? Stringer Dedham? Obviously King was putting an Easter egg there for his writing buddy. It fell apart as I read it because I took it everywhere with me-- I read it in the car, at family gatherings, as soon as I got out of the pool, wherever. I hated the ending and I vowed never to read it again. It took about 20 years but a few years ago I picked it up again and so much hit me differently as an adult. Hell, I need to re-read just about all of King's books... I'm overdue.

I remember hating the ending of It... it's one of King's dumber endings. But, dumb endings don't usually ruin King's books. Duma Key has about the stupidest ending of any book I've ever read, and I still have a big fondness for Zwolfhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02364540771153476179noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-825351661748594023.post-6343489551537691462023-02-05T10:35:44.237-08:002023-02-05T10:35:44.237-08:00Will, which of the two film versions of IT did you...Will, which of the two film versions of IT did you like best: the made-for-TV version or the theatrical one?Mikehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05505326462639079170noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-825351661748594023.post-57602090405759675722023-02-04T18:16:45.230-08:002023-02-04T18:16:45.230-08:00Nice. I haven't read IT in I don't know when -- should probably revisit the book some time soon.

Liked your observations re: the book's capturing "how we live now." Always liked King's scares, but one of the things that made the books work so well was the real-life feel he gave them before he turned the monsters loose.

King has commented before Tony Rabighttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15917278125417077041noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-825351661748594023.post-89671243291445495252023-02-04T13:05:29.239-08:002023-02-04T13:05:29.239-08:00It's been a long, long while since I read '...It's been a long, long while since I read 'It', but I remember that as I did read it, I came to hate King's unrelenting depiction of the Derry Kidz as flawed, but virtuous - nay, saintly - heroes / heroines. I wound up rooting for It well before the book's midpoint.
