This post actually inspired me to track down this book and read it. Unfortunately, it doesn't live up to the cover. It sets up a potentially creepy situation, then makes very little of it, and the ending is a big "huh?" The writing itself isn't terrible, but a bit overblown. I get the feeling the author really liked the conversations that Detective Kinderman had in The Exorcist and wanted to write that kind of banter. Anyway, I wasn't bored, really, just underwhelmed. There was so much else that could have been done with this idea... but the author skipped every opportunity.
Long live the blurbs. If THE Robert BlocK says it's good then it might just be.
ReplyDeleteBlocH, Rober Bloch. *Stoopid fingers!*
